TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Whether you're considering joining [community profile] paradisa for the first time or you just want to test out a new muse, this is the place to do it. Only character journals allowed, please!

Feel free to have your character roam any of the castle's rooms, grounds locations, or City Royale.

Thanks for your interest, and have fun!

Premise:
You wake up in a giant, magical castle. Everything is beautiful and the castle grants material wishes. It also provides a magic journal to every resident that allows everyone to communicate with each other like a two-way radio.
ohrot: (that e'er I've loved)

[There's something familiar about this girl running about through the water, kicking it up and soaking that pretty dress of hers. She's a cute little thing and Anne can't help but smile as she watches her play, can't help but make her way on over to say hello.

It's on one of those chases that Anne sicks a foot out in front of the crab Jenny's after, stopping the thing in its tracks and watching as it tries to climb up over her boot. Unharmed, just impeded now.]

There, you've got it now!

[There's a few shrieking laughs as Jenny catches up to the stopped crab, which she bends to pick and hold up toward the woman. Its legs squirm and its pinchers click a bit.]

He's been captured! Now I'll need a cage to keep him in.
ohrot: (To Mem'ry now I can't recall)

[personal profile] ohrot 2014-03-14 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
To keep? You'd want a pet like that?

[But she says it on a laugh and wishes up a fishbowl all the same, setting it down to pile sand into.]

There we are, pop him in.

He's to be a ship captain! I'll give him a little ship to sail, but I'll have to put something on the ship, else it will only be a boat.

[But then the bowl appears from nowhere, and Jenny reacts with the utter fascination only a child can have, her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open as she holds tight to her crab.]

How did you do that? I've heard there might be magic in the New World, are you a witch or a fairy?
ohrot: That I should rise and you should not (But since it falls unto my Lot)

[Oh, but she's a precious little thing. All that red hair not unlike Anne's own, but it's the eyes that really pull it together. She's Edward's girl, the one Anne had only caught a glimpse of at the docks before they'd sailed off together. Off on his way to be a proper father, and she finds herself so glad his girl is here now.

But, no need to frighten her with all of that, clandestine arrivals and all that nonsense can be handled by her father. No, Anne just gives her a quick grin and points to the flowers in her hair.]

A fairy, of course. Can't you tell?

Oh, but you've not got wings. My mother always said that fairies have wings to carry them on the wind between their rings.

[She does crouch down though, to place her crab in his bowl, which she picks up and carries a few steps to the dry sand, so that she might sit down. Her bare, wet feet point up as she holds the bowl in her lap.]

What's your name?
ohrot: Good Night and Joy be with you all (I'll gently rise and softly call)

[personal profile] ohrot 2014-03-14 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like your mother was a smart woman, then. You've got the right of it, I'm just a lass like you.

[Anne comes along, sitting down right in the sand alongside Jenny to keep an eye on her. Would Edward have told his girl about her? She thinks it's possible, since he had asked her to come along with him. Or maybe he's told her stories of all the great pirates, and she'll recognize her name that way. There's no telling, no way to know, so Anne will just answer honestly.]

Anne Bonny. [She dusts the sand off her hand, offering it out for the girl to shake.] And yours?

[personal profile] toyboat 2014-03-14 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Jenny places her small hand in Anne's, as it's only proper to shake hands when one can't curtsy.

There's no recognition, though.]

I'm Jenny Scott. Or I think I still am. I shouldn't like to change my name, it's nice as it is.
ohrot: (So fill to me the parting Glass)

[personal profile] ohrot 2014-03-14 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, proper, of course. Anne gives that little hand a good, strong shake before letting go, hands resting idly in her lap.]

It is a pretty name. And what of him? [She nods to the crab, wondering how much trouble she's causing Edward by helping his daughter acquire a new pet.] What will his name be?

[personal profile] toyboat 2014-03-14 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm.

[Lifting the bowl to eye-level, Jenny watches the crab scuttle about its small space for a moment, thinking.]

He could be called Dancer, for the way he goes back and forth. Then he would be Captain Dancer.
ohrot: (To Mem'ry now I can't recall)

[personal profile] ohrot 2014-03-14 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
You know, you've magic while you're inside this castle too. All you have to do is ask the castle and it'll give you most anything. A ship for your Dancer, if you think he's ready for the responsibilities of being a captain.

[personal profile] toyboat 2014-03-14 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Jenny certainly has questions about that, but the thought of magic is too much for her to ignore. She screws her eyes tightly shut, holding Captain Dancer's bowl to her chest, and then makes her wish.]

I would like a toy ship for my crab, please, with a littler toy boat on it, so that it is a proper ship instead of a boat. Please?

[Her eyes stay closed until she feels the weight of the toy on her lap, at which point she opens them to beam at Anne.]

It worked! But I don't understand why you say this is a castle. An island can't be in a castle, it has to be the other way 'round.
