Fourth Wall Meme
It's the return of the Fourth Wall Meme, and we're opening it for the next full week!

Premise:
You wake up in a giant, magical castle. Everything is beautiful and the castle grants material wishes. It also provides a magic journal to every resident that allows everyone to communicate with each other like a two-way radio.
Format:
[Actions] Dialogue.
IE:
[Mickey Mouse enters the room, and sits down at the kitchen table.]
Gosh, guys, is this place ever swell!
What are you gonna do?

Carolina?
[ His voice is filled with both hope and disbelief. There can be no doubt that he's utterly surprised by her presence here. ]
no subject
What if the Castle had taken something from him, taken his memories of her here? She's not sure if she should be grateful or really pissed.
Treading carefully in her words, and repeating his from that first encounter so long ago,] What's the last thing you remember.
[No question, just a demand.]
no subject
The last thing I remember of you?
[ He shakes his head slowly, with a slight cock to his head. He's still trying to work out how this is even possible. Something about time travel, he reckons. ]
The last thing I remember of you should mean I would never have seen you again.
no subject
Unless the Castle simply ended his pain and reset him.
She supposes it would be easier for him to handle if he forgot the relationship they'd had in the Castle before she'd disappeared for three months, only to come back later in the timeline.]
no subject
Hey, do you know something I don't? Because I don't know what good it would do for me to tell you that.
no subject
She'd just need to clear out the few things she'd stashed in his room. Including the blueprints for her new helmet.]
No. I don't. [Her reply is tight-lipped, if not a little cold.]
no subject
[ He shifts slightly away, training his gaze elsewhere, thinking for just a moment. ]
A lot of things changed after you— Since you've been gone. The Project looks different and I'm a different person. So, like I said. Telling you the last thing I remember? Wouldn't do you a whole lot of good.

[If nothing else, she hopes that will break the ice. She's told him this before in the Castle and he'd seemed to freak out more about that than her being dead. Maybe the last couple weeks of steps toward trusting him had been a mistake.
No they were definitely a mistake.]
no subject
No, uh, like I said, the last thing I remember of you could not possibly mean much to you, and that just proved it, okay? Christ, Carolina‐
...I don't know, is this the kind of thing they put in sci-fi movies? Will it cause some kind of time paradox if I tell you the way I watched you die?
no subject
[Oh wait her anger is back now.]
no subject
I don't know what happened with Maine, but that's not how you died. He had nothing to do with it.

No, I don't— That doesn't make sense. Carolina, you died in my arms. Those AIs were too much for you. You...you...
[ It's too hard to tell her, to remind her of the way she broke down at the end, but it is a reminder of why he was so surprised to see her in the first place. He reaches to set his hand on her wrist, though the contact won't mean much since he can't feel her skin. ]
Carolina, nothing would make me happier to think you survived your suicide. But if that's true, they never told me.
belated trigger warning to anyone reading
But suicide. She had... if she was honest, she had been quietly thinking about it since the Tokyo World Change, but every time, she had reminded her that it was quitting. She couldn't take herself out of the game, no matter how painful everything became, how stifling the apathy became.]
I never-- [It's hard to even try to communicate to him that that never happened it must have been a dream of some kind.] You must have had a nightmare.
[She takes another breath.] Texas knocked me out during the sparring match. When I woke up, you were gone. You two had defected.
whoops I never think of these things :c
Okay, this really does sound like sci-fi bullshit, but I think we might be from different timelines or something. Because I don't remember you and Tex getting into a match. Things were too... [ Another head shake. ] You never sparred with anyone when you had those AIs.
It's okay! <33
I tried. I fought her later when I still had them. [Right before being strangled and thrown off a cliff, that is.]

Carolina, how— I mean, I don't know how you managed it. The woman I saw in you was so broken down... And you never told me anything about it. Why?
