It's the return of the Fourth Wall Meme, and we're opening it for the next full week!

paradisa does not allow non-members to post or comment in our main community, so we're offering this as a place to roleplay with our cast. Both character journals and personal journals are welcome, as well as doubles, original characters, AUs, whatever. Not all can be applied to the main game, but they're certainly welcome here.

Premise:
You wake up in a giant, magical castle. Everything is beautiful and the castle grants material wishes. It also provides a magic journal to every resident that allows everyone to communicate with each other like a two-way radio.

Format:
[Actions] Dialogue.

IE:
[Mickey Mouse enters the room, and sits down at the kitchen table.]

Gosh, guys, is this place ever swell!

What are you gonna do?

[He's still morbidly fascinated by this. All he's seen walkers eat before is...well the insides of people, and you tried not to stare at that for longer than you had to. This is so weird]

No, I'm okay, thanks.

[She smiles at him. He's a good kid, really. He'd have almost fit in... Hm. She writes another message back.]

I think you'd have liked the one normie I went to school with. He was a lot like you, kind of shy, very studious, liked to play casketball and hated dodgeskull.

[Good luck with the monsterfied words, Ben. She pulls up a picture of Jackson to show her new friend.]

Casketball. You mean...like basketball?

[He'll just grip onto that, something he can hang onto there. He'll even look at that picture]

Wow, how'd a human end up in your school?

[She nods her head and gives him a zombie grin. Yes yes yes. Basketball is what normies call it. She wishes up a "casketball" and shows him. And then she writes back.]

His mother is the daughter of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. His dad is a fire elemental. His other half is named Holt Hyde.

[She flicks through her computer to find a picture of Holt to show him. Boy this will be hard for him to believe...]

[Carefully]

Liiiiiike the book?

[She nods her head to the affirmative. OH, there are books about Holt's grampa! That was in Normie literature. She quickly writes back.]

But the transformation has gotten easier, less painful and more stable over the generations.

Well, that's something, I guess. I never figured that sort of thing would be genetic.

[Welp Ben, you ready for a scientific explanation? She writes back.]

The chemicals used to affect the change at first were so strong and toxic that they stuck to the DNA.

[How's that for scientific?]

[Wooooow</i.] That's...well I guess it's good for you but not so much for humanity.

[She is curious now. Her writing reflects that.]

What do you mean? The whole school aren't zombies. We have witches, werewolves, werecats, vampires, ghosts, seamonsters, a human, zombies, gargoyles...

[He'll blink slowly]

Wow, so it's a...really interesting school?

[Yes interesting, that's the word he's going to go for]

[She'll smile at him before writing back.]

Yes. Interesting. And sometimes that's interesting in the Chinese sense.

In the...Chinese sense?

[She explains in writing.]

It's an old normie proverb I picked up once. When the Chinese say "May you have an interesting life." they mean "May you have a life, interesting in both the good and the bad ways."

Huh. The bad ways aren't exactly what anyone wants.

[She smiles and types back.]

That is clearly the point. It is a way of wishing ill upon someone without being malicious. The Chinese are kind of genius in that way.

I'll take your word on that. [Not only a sentient zombie but a SMART one, what is this world coming to?]

[Again she types an answer.]

I do research on a lot of normie cultures. Sadly, sometimes my research materials are quite lacking and limited to things like Seventween and In Style.

Not a lot of hu- normie books where you are?

[She starts typing back.] Sadly no. I mean, there are normies but they generally stick to themselves for the most part and regard us with fear. not that I personally blame them. I suppose if I was a normie, and had all the horrible misconceptions thrown at me that they do from an early age...

[And then she thinks about it and slowly types the following.]

Wait. Monsters have misconceptions about normies too you know? On Halloween, we dress up as scary normies. In fact, our guidance counselor, Mr. Deth, has a stress ball shaped like a normie head and its eyes bulge when you squeeze it. Jackson told me about that one, and how uneasy it made him.

...

Well that's a disturbing image.

[She's typing again.]
